SLOW DOWN!!! YOU MOVE TOO FAST!!

Just across our northern border that runs between Canada and North Dakota is a slice of heaven called Winnipeg. Now for those of you who don’t know, Winnipeg is the capitol of Manitoba, Canada.  Still don’t know? Take my word for it.  It’s there.  Anyway, there is a group of artists there that just may have figured it all out and are campaigning to get the people there to join them in the effort to take back their lives.

The campaign is to get everybody to slow down.  I’m not talking about the way you drive, of course if you are one of those who can’t wait to be the first one to arrive at the stop light, then by all means slow down.  What their focus is on is life in general.  We have become a society that can’t wait, not even for a second.  We speak as fast as we can, heck, we don’t even have time to speak, so we acronym just about everything.  I truly believe that most people can’t even tell you what the acronym means but they use them anyway.

Our lives have become so in need of speed that we often miss out on what life has to offer.  We shove our meals down our throats, often without adequate chewing, just so we can get on with something else that requires us to go even faster.  “Jameson, I need that report done yesterday!” So we do it as fast as we can.  “I have to hurry or I’m going to be late for work.”  Really?  The work will still be there even if you are late. “Yes, but my boss may get mad and fire me and I really need this job.  I need this income.”  Do you now?  Do you need the stress, the headaches, the added strain on your heart and the strokes it causes?

Stress is a major cause for heart attacks and strokes which is also a major killer among people. So, you run to this.  You hurry past that.  You don’t have time for this or that because you have to do this yesterday and that is due at 9:00 a.m. and, OH SHOOT!  It’s 9:15 already!! What is it all for??  It seems that not only are we going to be the first one to the stop light on the corner, but we are going to be the first one to the stop light of life.  And guess what?  The work is still there.  It never goes away.

Have we, as a society, become so programmed to be faster and faster that we have forgotten how to just live?  Chew your food! Enjoy the flavor of that steak!  Look up towards the sky and dream!  Take a long look around you and see what you’ve been missing!  Hold your wife longer! Linger in the kiss!  Take the time!! Take the time!! Take the time and the whole world will be the better for it.

So, I agree with these artists in Winnipeg. Don’t play that game.  Slow down.  Take it easy, live longer and enjoy life.  You will be happier for it.

That's all I have today, folks! I hope you
enjoyed your stay and I look forward to seeing you again. Please leave any comments or suggestion you may have in the comments section, below.
