I'm just too stupid

Good morning, all of you blog readers out there!  It has been nearly a week since I've posted anything on here and it makes me wonder, "What has been going on to distract me so?"  Well, as you know by now, I finished my book (which still needs a name) and I have been doing the final edit so that I can present it to publishers and hope to get it on all the book shelves in the world.  That in itself takes some time.  I want to get it just right so that I won't have to wait for a publisher to publish it.  Some people say that with the advent of e-books, the real books are on their way out.  To them I say "Pshaw!"  Many people still prefer to hold an actual book in their hands, enjoy the smell of it and actually turn pages and dog-ear them.  Also, for the price of an Ipad 2 you could purchase around 50 books and have them on display in your home to impress people with your literary prowess.
So, there is still a bunch of readers who prefer books.  Another upside is that Hollywood is out of ideas.  They need books to make movies out of.  So, here I am, Mr. or Ms. Publisher.

Another distraction has been how the world is falling apart.  The entire Middle East is trying to wipe itself off the planet, what with all the wars and uprisings happening there.  Then there are the terrorists who are bent on destroying mankind as a whole.  Volcanoes erupting, a tsunami in Australia and now a big one in Japan that has done so much damage that the Japanese a scurrying to try to prevent several nuclear meltdowns which, I read, may have already begun.

Newly elected Republican Governors and State Republican Representatives are doing there best to take away the rights of the same Americans that put them in office by destroying unions.  Many of you and other misinformed readers are saying I don't have a union and my company is treating me well.  To them I say, catch up on the history of the labor movement in this country.  Before the unions, we were a country that produced things without any benefits at all.  Paltry wages, no health care, no sick pay, no 40 hour work week (which I believe is still too long) all managed by some hairy sweaty man with a strap that would beat you if he caught you unnecessarily breathing while on the job.  Forget about a bathroom break. These are all things our grandparents and great grandparents had to suffer through to bring us into the much nicer world of today.  We have the benefits, freedoms and rights at work that we have because of the labor movement in America almost a hundred years ago.  That's right, I said America.  This seems to have been lost on the gen-x, y and whatever generation is out there now.  You have the freedoms and privileges you have today because of the price the generations before you paid.  Even if you don't have a union.  You have these things because of the union movements from way before you were born.  Don't let politicians who are only in government to have power and keep a definite separation between the rich and the poor in place, or else we will soon become another third world country who uses child labor, slaves and sweat shops that will support only the wealthy.

So what else?  Well, there is the threat that the NFL will have a lockout after all and there may be no season this year.  I know, a lot of you are thinking "Big deal.  Football is not a necessity."  Well, you are right and wrong.  Forget the players and the teams owners.  Think about the custodial crew, concessions, the grounds keepers, people that make and sell team apparel and all the other supporting workers that will lose their jobs if the selfish owners and self-centered players can't get their act together.  This could result in a major blow to our already languishing economy.

Do you find all this as depressing as I do?  I hope so.  The world is in turmoil.  Our nation, itself, faces a very serious threat of losing the very rights we were founded on. Stand up for your rights!  Do NOT let anyone take them away from you.  Every right, every freedom you have is because someone before you gave their life to see to it that you have them.  Do not let corporate greed or political greed take any of those things from you.  VOTE!  You have the power to change things for the better.
